Portable QCAD is a comprehensive software utility that enables users to create schematics, diagrams and drawings. It is similar to AutoCAD but more ser-friendly.

It is also possible to save Portable QCAD to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any workstation seamlessly and without previous installers. What's worth keeping in mind is that the app does not add new entries to the Windows registry.

At startup, you are required to select the UI language, measurement unit, default paper size, decimal point and background color.

The interface has a modern appearance and is somewhat intuitive. You can draw single points or multiple ones along a line, together with a points grid in a quadrangle, use line tools (e.g. from two points, angle, horizontal, vertical), apply arcs, circles, splines, ellipses, and polylines.

In addition, you can input text and edit properties (e.g. line spacing, alignment, font size), draw dimensions, insert Bitmaps, modify existing objects, as well as create blocks from selections, among others.

Portable QCAD allows you to export projects to Bitmap, PDF and SVG (quick or advanced). Actions can be undone and redone, and it is possible to use a search and replace function throughout the project, as well as to substitute fonts. You can manage layers, add views, select or deselect specific objects (e.g. lines, polygons), enable isometric grid, and detect duplicates automatically. These are just a small part of the options provided by the application.

The program needs a pretty high amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. It has a good response time and works well, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. We have not come across any issues in our testing.
